From Table A above, about 907 illegal refineries were destroyed between January – April 2013, by the Nigerian Navy in collaboration with JTF (OP PULO SHIELD) and other security agencies. It is informative to note the sharp decline in the number of illegal refineries destroyed from about 500 in January to 76 in April.  In comparison with the period July – December 2012, when over 7378 illegal refineries destroyed with an average of 1000 destroyed per month, there is an apparent downward trend in the proliferation  of illegal micro refineries. This is as a result of increase in the efforts of NN, JTF and other security agencies patrolling and enforcement actions.
