LIST OF ARRESTED VESSELS FROM JANUARY TO DECEMBER 2013

In 2013, the Nigerian Navy (NN) in her efforts at ensuring sanctity of the Nigerian maritime environment, put in place robust mechanisms which include enhanced surveillance capability and response initiative to curb maritime crimes especially pipeline vandalism and crude oil theft amongst others. These actions have resulted in the arrest of over 33 vessels and 2,278 suspects for pipeline vandalism, crude oil theft and other related maritime offences. The table below shows the list of arrested vessels and their crew, owners and charterers that were involved in crude oil- related offences from January to December 2013.

Pertinently, in line with the Chief of the Naval Staff’s commitment to rid the Nigerian maritime space of illegalities, the general public is hereby advised to desist from committing pipeline/crude oil-related offences as the Nigerian Navy will continuously arrest and publish names of arrested vessels and their owners. Furthermore, the attention of the general public is hereby drawn to the Nigerian Navy Crude Oil Theft website www.cot.mil.navy.ng for more interactions on the war against pipeline vandalism and crude oil theft.
