NIGERIAN NAVY ARRESTS CRUDE OIL THEIVES IN BAYELSA STATE

Nigerian Navy patrol teams in Bayelsa have intercepted and arrested 2 vessels suspected to be loaded with stolen crude oil at different locations in Southern Ijaw LGA. The first vessel, ST MARYANA was intercepted aground around Kolovama on the 23rd of December 2013 and effort to tow the vessel to the Forward Operating Base, Formoso is still on-going.

In a related development, the Navy Doo-Akpo patrol team intercepted and arrested MV ECLIPS with a crew of 9 Nigerians on the 26th of December, 2013 in Obi Creek. The vessel was loaded with over 870,000Litres of products suspected to be stolen crude oil. MV ECLIPS is currently in NN custody as further investigation is being carried out.
